Yunfu City
Being located in the mid-west part of
Guangdong Province, Yunfu City is an important
passage linking Guangdong, Hong Kong and
Macao with the provinces in China’s
southwest. It has a land area of 7,779.1
square kilometers and a population of 2.44
million. Yunfu City is positioned as the
“grand outskirt” of the Pearl
River Delta and has always been called the

Development
In recent year, Yunfu City witnessed rapid
development. In 2003, its GDP reached RMB
21.473 billion, up by 13.1% compared with
that of the last year. The foreign investment,
import and export have increased considerably.
The total import and export volume was US$
0.49 billion, up by 32.5%, among which the
export volume was US$ 0.28 billion, up by
37.3%. The contracted utilization of foreign
capital was US$ 0.141 billion, up by 247.7%
and the actual utilized foreign capital
reached US$ 42.14 million, up by 59.9%.

Thanks to its mild climate
and abundant rainfall, Yunfu City enjoys
quite favorable conditions to develop
high quality and high efficiency agriculture.
It has built 10 big agricultural commodities
bases dedicated in the following businesses:
production of high quality rice, rosin,
cassia bark, bamboo shoots, tea, fruits,
vegetables and aquatic products, domestic
birds and animals breeding, silkworm
breeding and mulberry growing. It has

By making good use of its own advantages,
Yunfu City has set up some pillar industries
with certain characteristics. At present,
it has 6 pillar industries range from
chemical, construction materials made
of stone, stainless steel products,
textiles and garments, preserved fruits
processing to electronic machinery.
Yunfu has always been called the “Sulfur
Capital”, because the reserve
and quality of its sulfur ore rank first
in the world. It produces 4 million
tons of sulfur ore annually and has
set up a chemical product base, which
uses sulfur ore as raw materials. Yunfu
City is the largest base for stone product
distribution, processing and export
in South China. Its stone products fall
into 7 big series. Guangdong’s
biggest stainless steel kitchen utensils
and cookers manufacturing base is also
located in Yunfu City. |

Yunfu City has been positioned as
the “grand outskirt” of
the Pearl River Delta, and will support
the extension development of the Pearl
River Delta, actively take over the
industry transfer from the Delta and
complement them. In order to attract

These zones (parks) enjoy complete water
and electricity supply facilities and
