The GPRD encompasses several very diverse areas in the South of China – areas that are different in terms of language, culture, background, natural resources, industry sectors, economic strengths, currency and more. Because of this range of assets and skills, the GPRD taken as a whole presents a broad-based region, rich with opportunities.
Although Hong Kong, the mainland of China and Macao are governed by different administrations, they have, for the last twenty years or so, been growing increasingly closer together. Now they are a closely knit economic zone, with interlocking economic strengths and output capabilities that serve each others’ markets, among others.
Business that straddles the administrations is common place - policies and regulations have kept pace with market needs so that business in the GPRD is not constrained by excessive ‘red tape’. Indeed with new initiatives such as the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA), the exact reverse is true!
